A total of 304 trainees from Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand have been selected to participate in the Postgraduate Programme in Organ Donation (PPOD), to be launched on January 7th, 2020. Local orientation sessions were organised to provide information on ODISSeA and PPOD, programme structure and contents, benefits and requirements, as well as tasks to be completed.
The number of trainees registered has exceeded the initially estimated 35 trainees/SeA partner university.
The target groups includes physicians and senior nurses, mainly healthcare staff from Intensive Care Units (ICU) and anaesthesiology, organ donor/transplant coordination, emergency and stroke units, neurology and neurosurgery, general surgery and nephrology. The trainees who joined the PPOD will improve their competencies in organ donation through a multilevel blended approach that allows direct transfer of competencies acquired in their daily clinical practice.
